In situations where a long run of Litebars® is required using one driver (eg a tunnel or corridor), we recommend that the driver is placed in the centre of the run of lights, with feeds going out in both directions, in order to reduce voltage drop.
Cable size: 2 core @ 0.75mm
If using plastic conduit, metal saddles MUST be used – and placed a minimum of 400mm apart. Do not exceed the number of Litebars® for the driver (see the calculation chart). If Litebars start to flash when switched on, you have overloaded the driver – and a higher wattage driver is required. If the Litebar® fails to work, please check that the ‘ + & – ‘ connections are the right way around.
Two Cable Installation
The images below show a two cable installation using a single driver.
Four Cable Installation
The images below show a four cable installation using a double driver.
When wiring using this method if one driver fails then only one side of the lighting will fail.
Scotchlok
We recommend 3M Scotchlok UY2 and UR2 as show in the images.
The first image shows a close up of a Scotchlok showing the postive connection which has a thin white band running through it for recognition.
Drivers
Although Mean Well drivers do not have wattage stated it can be calculated by multiplying the volatage by amps.
For example: 12v x 29a = 348w
The 348w driver has three postive and three negative connections. The total wattage can then be divided by three.
For example: 348w ÷ 3 = 116w
Do NOT exceed the total wattage of lights on the calculated output.
